Turn construction expertise into schedules that shape major projects

Join a team delivering complex airport, energy, and infrastructure projects across the country, where your construction judgment and scheduling expertise directly influence how major programs are planned, phased, sequenced, and delivered.

Company Overview

Connico is a leading national construction consultancy known for its extraordinary team and commitment to superior client service. Founded in 1990, we offer highly specialized consulting services unique to the architecture, engineering, and construction industries. As experts in aviation and transportation, we assist owners, architects, engineers, and planners with cost estimating, scheduling, planning, and project management.

The Opportunity

As a Scheduling Project Specialist, you independently develop and analyze construction schedules for complex infrastructure projects while serving as a technical resource to clients, project teams, and developing schedulers. You will translate design information, construction methodology, field conditions, phasing requirements, quantities, and project constraints into logical, defensible schedules that support real project decisions.

Most candidates will come from professional construction scheduling backgrounds. We are also interested in experienced construction professionals whose scheduling expertise developed in the field - project engineers, superintendents, construction managers, civil engineers, inspectors, preconstruction professionals, or similar roles where they independently planned, scheduled, and sequenced complex construction work.

Regardless of title, this role requires significant scheduling experience. We're looking for someone who understands construction beyond the software: someone who can review plans, visualize how the work will be built, recognize when the sequence doesn't make sense, and explain the schedule clearly to a client or project team.

What You'll Do

Schedule development and execution

  • Independently develop detailed construction schedules based on project scope, design documents, construction methodology, site conditions, phasing requirements, procurement, production information, and client milestones.
  • Develop work breakdown structures, activities, durations, relationships, sequencing logic, milestones, constraints, and schedule assumptions.
  • Build schedules appropriate to planning, design, preconstruction, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, turnover, and closeout.
  • Apply practical construction knowledge to identify realistic sequencing, access, logistics, production, trade interfaces, procurement constraints, material availability, and constructability considerations.
  • Develop and evaluate alternative phasing and sequencing strategies as project requirements or field conditions change.
  • Incorporate quantities, production rates, cost, resource, procurement, and other available project information into schedules.
  • Develop schedules at varying levels of detail based on project phase, available information, and client needs.
Analysis and technical problem solving
  • Analyze critical path, float, schedule variances, phasing conflicts, constraints, and potential delays.
  • Identify missing scope, logic issues, unrealistic assumptions, sequencing conflicts, and other conditions that may affect project delivery.
  • Develop practical mitigation strategies and schedule recovery recommendations based on construction knowledge and schedule analysis.
  • Perform or support Time Impact Analysis, delay analysis, schedule risk analysis, and change-impact evaluation.
  • Review contractor- and stakeholder-prepared schedules for logic, completeness, constructability, sequencing, and alignment with project requirements.
  • Integrate cost estimating, phasing, constructability, quantities, and resource information into scheduling recommendations.
  • Apply professional judgment when project information is incomplete or still developing.
Collaboration, client engagement, and development
  • Work directly with owners, designers, contractors, field personnel, and other project stakeholders to develop realistic schedules.
  • Lead or participate in planning, phasing, sequencing, schedule development, review, and reconciliation meetings.
  • Clearly explain schedule assumptions, risks, impacts, alternatives, and recommendations to clients and project teams.
  • Participate in project site visits to validate assumptions, understand field conditions, and confirm construction progress.
  • Train and support Analyst-level schedulers by reviewing schedule logic, construction sequencing, and technical approaches.
  • Contribute to internal quality reviews, scheduling tools, templates, and best practices.

What You Bring

Required
  • 5+ years of progressive construction experience, including significant responsibility for construction scheduling, planning, sequencing, phasing, or schedule management on complex projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, engineering, architecture, or a related field - or equivalent relevant construction experience.
  • Demonstrated experience independently creating or materially developing construction schedules - not solely maintaining, monitoring, or updating schedules prepared by others.
  • 2+ years of meaningful onsite construction experience in complex building, infrastructure, heavy civil, transportation, utility, industrial, aviation, or comparable construction environments.
  • Professional Primavera P6 experience. Candidates without advanced P6 proficiency may be considered when they bring substantial field-construction experience, significant responsibility for construction scheduling and sequencing, experience independently planning complex work, and demonstrated ability to quickly become proficient in technical scheduling tools.
  • Strong understanding of construction means and methods, constructability, trade coordination, logistics, procurement, sequencing, and phasing.
  • Demonstrated experience developing WBS structures, activities, durations, relationships, baselines, phasing plans, schedule assumptions, and related scheduling deliverables.
  • Ability to interpret architectural, civil, structural, and engineering drawings and specifications at multiple stages of design and apply that information to construction sequencing.
  • Experience communicating schedule findings, assumptions, risks, and recommendations directly to project teams and clients.
  • Experience developing schedules from preconstruction or early planning through construction and commissioning.
  • Experience with cost- or resource-loaded schedules.
  • Experience performing Time Impact Analysis, schedule recovery, delay analysis, or schedule risk analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, analytical judgment, and problem-solving skills.
  • Some travel required: 10-25% (site visits, client meetings, conferences)
Preferred
  • Aviation or airport scheduling experience.
  • Experience with Oracle Primavera Cloud (OPC).
  • Experience mentoring less-experienced schedulers or construction professionals.
  • OSHA construction safety training.
  • PMP, PMI-SP, PSP, CCM, PE, or comparable professional certification

Sector experience that stands out

Any of the following is a meaningful plus:
  • Aviation
  • Energy: commercial nuclear power generation, green and renewable power generation, power distribution, and power transmission including high voltage
  • Heavy civil and infrastructure
  • Data centers and data infrastructure
  • Government and military scheduling
  • Utilities, transportation, roadway, bridge, or water/wastewater construction
  • Complex work performed within active or operational facilities

Why Join Connico
  • Opportunity to work on complex, high-visibility projects
  • Apply real construction experience to planning decisions that directly affect project delivery
  • Opportunity to develop into a trusted technical scheduling advisor
  • Strong culture of collaboration, respect, and technical excellence
  • A clearly defined career path and development support
